If you have ever used a search engine to look something up, maybe you noticed the ads the run horizontally and vertically down the side of the page. This is prime advertising space and how the search engine make a lot of their money. It’s also a great place for you to advertise your local business.

There are 3 main search engines, Google, Yahoo & Bing, and they can bring, in many cases, a significant amount of traffic to your site. Now, this does cost money. For these prime spots in the search engine, the “Big 3″ search engines charge different amounts. It all depends on the “keyword” the web searcher is typing in. Some keywords are more expensive than others. I like to think of keywords as “markets”. To me, each keyword is a market and another way for you to reach your potential customers.

Traffic equals potentially new customers and leads.

Just so you are aware, my business model is strictly buying traffic from search engines (and other areas) and sending the traffic directly to your website. In some cases I do create a website and use the website to drive traffic to a merchant I’m signed up with as an affiliate but this is not my primary business model.

My opinion is that a website is critical to your business growing.

* Help generate leads to find new customers

You can use your website to educate people about your business, your product and/or services and much more. Maybe you have a monthly coupon that you would like your customers to have access to. Create the coupon, put it on your website and then let everyone know it’s there. How do you do that? By capturing email addresses.

Each website set up will have Google’s Free Feedburner system installed into the website. What is this? It’s a way for people to sign up via their email address to your website. Whenever you make a change to your website, the subscriber will get notified. It’s a perfect way for you to intereact with your customer base and keep them up to date wiuth what is going on.
